Although the science behind softening hard water is complex, the process is simple
While water is in the ground, it picks up soluble bits of whatever it passes through. In our local area the water collects an abundance of calcium and magnesium minerals which affect the water’s ability to function in our homes because they make our water hard.
Hard water is not ideal!
Hard water makes soaps and detergents lose some of their effectiveness as they combine with the minerals to make a sticky soap curd. The insoluble curd clings to the skin and may actually inhibit cleansing; it makes washed hair seem dull and lifeless; it can trap dirt in the fibres of your clothes and make them feel stiff and rough; it can leave a soap film in your bath and shower. When it comes to your plumbing system, the calcium and mineral deposits build up in the pipes reducing the flow to taps and appliances reducing their efficiency and longevity.
The solution is to remove the calcium and magnesium – and the best way to do this is through a water softener. Sandy’s water softeners use high purity salt to remove the hardness by exchanging the minerals in the water with sodium. This process is called ion exchange.
It is important to choose precisely the right product for your needs – and that is where Sandy’s excels.
