The benefits of softened water
Would it be too bold to say that softened water improves eczema and psoriasis? Inadvertently it does. Heavy use of soaps and detergents can easily dry out sensitive skin and lead to these types of complaints.
However, with softened water, the need for excessive use of detergents is not needed – softened water forms lather with the smallest amount of soap when compared with hard water, which has to battle with the lather-inhibiting effect of calcium and magnesium minerals. Less soap clearly equates to a reduction in the drying effect on skin.
Continual use of hard water gradually builds up layers of limescale in pipework, which can reduce water flow to your washing machine and dishwasher.
Your kitchen appliances will naturally last much longer as well as working to their designed efficiency.
It is not common knowledge, but soft water makes your hair look glossier too.
If your skin feels, dry, itchy and irritated, continual washing in hard water may be contributing to this.
Softened water has a reduced mineral content so the taste is free to be enjoyed with the unsightliness of scummy films absent.
